Parroquia de San José

Saint Julio Álvarez Mendoza (feast March 30).
Saint Julio Álvarez Mendoza was executed by firing squad in San Julián on March 30, 1927 — reprisal for the Cristeros' victory at the Battle of San Julián two weeks earlier, the greatest defeat the federal army would suffer in the entire war. "I am going to die innocent, because I have done no wrong. My crime is being a minister of God. I forgive you." His relics rest in Mechoacanejo, Jalisco.
